Static IP Address
A fixed public IP for your 5G line
Add a static IP to any Crosstalk Mobile line for $5 a month or $60 a year. Your router gets the same public IP address every time it connects, so you can reach it, and the devices behind it, from anywhere.
Who needs a static IP
On our default APN, most lines get a public IP address that can change from time to time. That works for browsing, streaming, and video calls. It gets in the way when something out on the internet has to find you, such as:
- Remote access to a router, firewall, or PLC at a job site
- Security cameras and an NVR you check from your phone
- A VPN server your staff connect to from home
- Port forwarding for a phone system, game server, or custom app
- Failover that keeps those inbound services working when your main line drops
Setup takes one change
You don't need new hardware. Set your router's cellular APN to iot.cc.static and reconnect. Our static IP setup guide walks through Peplink and UniFi routers with screenshots, and we've tested port forwarding over 5G on the UniFi 5G Max and the Dream Router 5G Max.
Billing
The first month is charged at checkout. After that, the static IP is billed alongside your plan, and you can add it to a line you already have.
Common questions
Why not use the default APN?
The default address is public in most locations, but it isn't guaranteed and it can change. Setting the static IP APN puts your line on our static IP network, so it gets the same address every time it connects.
My router shows 192.0.0.2. Is something wrong?
Some reduced-capacity 5G backup devices show that address and can't take a static IP. We explain why in this post.
Is it an IPv4 address?
Yes. It's a public static IPv4 address, the kind you need for port forwarding and inbound connections.
Which routers work with it?
Most 5G routers that let you set an APN, including every Peplink we sell, the Pepwave 5G Adapter, and the UniFi 5G Max. Some reduced-capacity RedCap 5G devices can't use one. We explain why in this post.
